Important Deadlines:

August 30, 2026: Deadline for all authors and workshop organizers to register for inclusion of their papers, workshops, posters and demos in the conference program and proceedings. This deadline also applies to invited TVCG and CG&A talks.

New Registration Fee Model

For ISMAR 2026, we are proud to offer a new registration fee model. We offer this model after significant thought and extensive conversations with peers and the ISMAR Steering Committee.

In short, there are two key aspects to the new registration fee model:

Student authors can register as an IEEE Student Member or Student Non-Member;
All registering authors can attach one contribution in their base registration and add more contributions for an additional fee(s) as needed.

More details about this new registration model are provided below.

To simplify, we offer week-long full conference registrations (Monday-Friday) and 1-day passes only.

VISA Invitation Letters

Important: If you request a visa invitation letter, your registration cannot be cancelled after the visa letter has been issued unless the visa has been denied for any reason.

The official visa for Italy portal of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation provides a guided procedure to verify visa requirements based on nationality, country of residence, reason for visit, and length of stay. If a visa is required, the portal provides the relevant information and forms needed to submit the application. Once the procedure is completed, if a visa invitation letter is necessary, please send a formal request to the ISMAR 2026 Registration Chairs at registration2026@ieeeismar.net.

The Registration Chairs will reply with a template to be completed with all the information required to issue the visa support letter.

For Journal and Conference Paper Authors

We strongly encourage authors to register immediately after receiving the final notification. Visa invitation letters will be issued as soon as possible. In any case, we advise authors to anticipate potential delays in the visa application process.

Children’s Participation at ISMAR 2026

To foster a family-friendly environment, children of registered participants will be issued name tags and warmly welcomed to join the conference.

Participation in the banquet and meals is not guaranteed and will be provided upon availability.

Cancellation Policy

All refund/cancellation requests must be received in writing at registration2026@ieeeismar.net by September 27, 2026, 11:59 PM AoE.

Registration cancelled until September 27, 2026 will be refunded 80% of the registration fees.
Registrations cancelled on or after September 28, 2026 will not be eligible for a refund.

Notes:

Author registrations are non-refundable.
Registrations for which a visa invitation letter has been issued will be refunded in full only if the visa application is denied for any reason and the refund request is submitted before September 27, 2026.

FAQs

When do I need to select "Full Conference Author" Registration?

You must select Full Conference Author registration if you are an author of any accepted contribution (i.e., conference paper, journal paper, invited TVCG paper, invited CG&A paper, workshop, workshop paper, poster, workshop poster, research demo or workshop demo) and no other co-author/co-organizer has yet to complete a Full Conference Author registration (and attached the shared contribution). At least one Author Registration per contribution is mandatory for inclusion in the conference program and/or proceedings.

I am invited to present a previously published TVCG or CG&A paper. Which registration category should I choose?

You should register under Full Conference Author Registration.

What information is required when registering as an invited TVCG or CG&A paper author?

You must provide the full Paper DOI, for example:

10.1109/TVCG.20XX.XXXXXXX (as listed in IEEE TVCG).

Do Doctoral Consortium presenters need a Full Conference Author Registration?

No. Full Conference Author Registration is not required if you are only presenting at the Doctoral Consortium.
However, if a DC presenter has an accepted contribution – i.e., conference paper, journal paper, invited TVCG paper, workshop, poster, research demo, workshop paper, workshop poster, or workshop demo – at least one Full Conference Author Registration is required for that contribution to be included in the conference program and/or proceedings.

Can I register multiple times?

No. Each participant may complete only one registration.

What is the new registration fee model?

The new model sets a base cost for student and non-student IEEE members/non-members that includes one contribution of any kind.
Student contributors register as student members/non-members and pay a lower base cost. Non-student contributors register as regular members/non-members and pay a higher base cost.
Each registration includes, at no additional cost, one contribution.
Additional contributions can be added in an à la carte style.
Certain restrictions apply to these additional contributions, concomitant with the overall goals of the new model (see below for more details).

What are the goals of the new registration fee model?

In short, our goals for this new approach are, in order of priority:

Reduce costs for contributing students. Over the years, ISMAR (and other conferences) have moved to a model whereby every contributing author regardless of their career stage and contributions pay full conference, IEEE member/non-member fees. In these cases, a student presenting a poster would pay the same as a senior researcher presenting two papers.
Encourage more student involvement, grow the student community, and establish long-lasting quality cohorts. This means creating cost structures that encourage faculty and career researchers to bring students to ISMAR.
Allow registrants to add an arbitrary number of contributions to their registrations. This provides flexibility for students and faculty/career researchers alike. While we would prefer to see more student involvement, we know this is not possible for everyone in all cases.

How does the current registration fee model compare to the previous 1+1 model?

To answer this question, assume that there exists a registration fee structure that employs the previous 1+1 registration model, and generates the equivalent income as the new model. Using these fees as a baseline, we can confidently state that the new model:

Reduces costs for student-authors with one contribution by 21%.
Keeps costs for student-authors with 2 contributions approximately the same.
Keeps costs for non-student authors with one contribution approximately the same.
Increases costs for non-student authors with two contributions by 35%.

What contributions must be attached to a registration?

For contributions to be included in the IEEE Digital Library they must be attached to a valid Full Conference Author Registration (see below for who can register and the restrictions on adding additional contributions).
Contributions that must be attached include: ISMAR TVCG papers, ISMAR conference papers, posters, demos, invited TVCG and invited CG&A papers, workshops, workshop papers, workshop posters, and workshop demos.
At least one workshop organizer must attach their workshop as a contribution to their registration.
Contributions should be attached only to a single registration. Do not attach contributions to multiple registrations! This is confusing for the organizers and can lead to delays in registration processing.
While attendees participating in Doctoral Consortium (DC) and Pitch Your Lab (PYL) must be registered to participate, these specific contributions (i.e., DC and PYL) do not need to be formally connected to a registration.

Who can register contributions?

For contributions to be included in the IEEE Digital Library all contributions must be registered under one of the following registration categories:

Student IEEE member/non-member full conference registration
Non-student IEEE member/non-member full conference registration
IEEE life member

One-day passes cannot be used to register contributions.

What restrictions apply when adding additional contributions?

Non-students can add as many contributions as they wish as long as the registrant is one of the listed authors on each contribution registered.
Students can add any contributions in which their name appears first in the author list (traditionally termed “first author”). Contributions where a student is not listed as the first author cannot be added. There are no “co-first authors”.

How do the different costs work for Additional Conference/TVCG Papers?

Non-students pay € 300 for each additional conference/TVCG paper contribution, whereas students pay € 250 for each additional conference/TVCG paper contribution.
Restrictions apply to adding contributions as described above.
The non-student/student costs are determined based on the registration upon which the contribution is being attached, not the contribution itself. That is, a non-student registrant attaching a “student paper” in which they are an author still pays € 300 for the additional contribution, not € 250. If a student registrant attaches that same paper, the cost is € 250 (note the student must be first author for this to be valid).

Who can present work at ISMAR?

All ISMAR presenters must be registered with one of:
- Student IEEE member/non-member Full Conference Author Registration
- Non-student IEEE member/non-member Full Conference Author Registration
- IEEE life member
Note: Note: This policy applies to workshop paper, workshop poster and workshop demo authors as well.
As a general rule, each contribution must be presented by the registrant associated with that contribution. Special cases may be considered, provided that both the registrant of the contribution and the preferred presenter are fully registered, and the contribution is attached to a Full Conference Author registration.
